It was a big year for the annual EBMS Health & Business Symposium.

It was the event’s 25th anniversary, an occasion worthy of a festive celebration. It came at a time of accelerating change in the healthcare industry. And it marked a 12-month evolution at EBMS, which invested heavily in major technology upgrades and a corporate rebranding initiative.

All these factors sparked a record number of Symposium attendees. They enjoyed a festive welcoming reception at the historic Moss Mansion in downtown Billings followed by a day full of thought-provoking presentations. Speakers shared their views on the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare and trends in third-party administration.

Keynote speaker Brian Klepper, a healthcare analyst/entrepreneur who specializes in healthcare market dynamics, spoke of the challenge of reducing costs.  EBMS speakers included CIO James Vertino, Mike Trent, a regional vice president of sales, and Laura Rookhuizen, healthcare informatics analyst. They highlighted trends and explained how EBMS’ innovative solutions – miBenefits, miChoice and miInsights – are changing the TPA industry.

Motivational speaker/musician Mike Rayburn entertained the crowd, while ZooMontana director and Symposium emcee Jeff Ewalt delighted attendees with some cool zoo critters he brought with him.

To end Day 2, attendees enjoyed spectacular views, great drinks and conversation, and a fine dinner at the Petroleum Club atop the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, site of the Symposium.

Sunny skies greeted golfers competing in the final-day golf tournament at Pryor Creek Golf Club. Others took to the Stillwater River for some whitewater rafting.
