Billings: “Magic City”
Billings (est. 1882), located in southcentral Montana, serves our region as a hub for business, including the healthcare, transportation, retail and manufacturing industries. The city was founded as a railhead for the Northern Pacific railroad, and rapidly earned the nickname "magic city" because of its extraordinary growth. While the population has doubled every thirty years, Billings has transformed into a cosmopolitan city.
LIVING AND WORKING IN BILLINGS
The advantages of living and working in this area are numerous. Our climate provides distinctive seasons which offer diverse options for outdoor enthusiasts: snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, golfing, fly fishing, wind sailing, whitewater rafting, snowboarding, and so much more. Additionally, there are dozens of venues within the community which feature fine and performing arts, including the: Rimrock Opera, Billings Symphony, Alberta Bair Theater, Billings Studio Theater, Venture Theater, Yellowstone Art Museum, Western Heritage Center, Peter Yegan Museum, amongst many others.
Our children benefit from a close-knit, safe community with educators and community leaders who model a strong work ethic and value system. Recognized as the medical and educational center for the region, Billings provides the most advanced health care services in a four-state area, and is home to three institutions for higher education. The Billings school system garners the support of a majority of the Billings residents, and Billings' high schools consistently rank in the top percentile nationwide in score achievement for the American College Test (ACT).
